Not only HMMs but also state duration models are required.

Please try to run HTS-demo, files for hts_engine ({mcep,lf0,dur}.pdf, trees-{mcep,lf0,dur}.inf) 
are generated under voices directory.
These files are converted from HTK mmf format to hts_engine format by HHEd.
