[hts-users:02631] Preliminary announcement of the Blizzard Challenges 2011 & 2012
This is just a brief message to outline our plans for the Blizzard Challenge over the next couple of years.
For 2011, we plan a very straightforward read-text task using a professional speaker and high sampling rate recordings, similar to the hub task in recent years, with few (or no) spoke tasks. This may just be for English unless we receive a substantial number of complaints!
For 2012, *but commencing in early 2011*, we plan a more challenging task based on audiobook data. Again, this may just be for English, but we are open to other languages if someone can identify or provide suitable data.
Please start discussing within your group whether you'd like to participate. You do not need to register your interest yet - I'll be calling for registrations in due course.
