[hts-users:04175] Re: In Ubuntu, add CSH package before installing SPTK

FYI, for what it's worth, this has been fixed for a while in the SPTK repository (January 19, so too late to be in the current 3.7, but I guess there will be a 3.8 release some day :-))

Hello,

Still a newbie remark, hope it can help some people after me – especially since generation time is so long for the demos, no one likes to see some trivial stuff derail it...

When using Ubuntu – I use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS – and I guess most other Linux distributions, it is MANDATORY to install the csh package BEFORE configuring and building SPTK.

In Ubuntu, that would be done using “sudo apt-install csh”.

If not, the SPTK installation will LOOK like it succeeded, but when running HTS generation later, it will generate the weirdest errors, not necessarily linkable to the absence of csh (because of raw2wav, mostly)…

I believe it would be best if SPTK were checking the actual presence of CSH, and block the configuration if not present, but that’s not the purpose of this list…

I post it here because there are consequences for HTS users, and I guess it might be useful to other newbies like me…
