We are looking for a personable, enthusiastic individual for an exciting opportunity to work as part of an innovative research project bringing cutting edge speech synthesis technology into clinical practice, and changing the lives of people with communication difficulties. 

The post holder will work as part of an inter-disciplinary project concerning voice banking, voice reconstruction and personalised voice communication aids. The project is developing clinical applications of personalized text-to-speech synthesis in partnership with the Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Research and Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. 

The post holder will use feedback from speech & language therapists and patients to design, implement and support improvements to our existing speech recording and personalized communication aid mobile apps, which are based on novel speech synthesis technology developed at the University of Edinburgh. These applications will be trialled by clinicians and their patients with various communication disorders at selected clinics across Scotland in the first instance. 

Applications are invited from individuals who have a first degree (at 1st or 2:1 level) or Masters in an appropriate subject, or equivalent qualification in at least two of: C/C++, Objective C programming skills, experience in application programming for iOS and Windows, and experience operating and maintaining Linux server.
