If you are using UNIX/Linux environment, maybe make program is installed.
In that case, just type "make" on the directory where you put the HTS-demo.

Which HTS version are you trying to use? 1.1.2 or 2.0RC1?
HTS-1.1.2 is for HTK-3.2.1 and HTS-2.0RC1 is for HTK-3.3.
Demo script for HTS-1.1.2 doesn't work with HTS-2.0RC1.
